My experiences of being bilingual

I came to America for study abroad since fall 2005. In past four years, from translate. English to Chinese, Chinese to English, then English to Eenglish. First I found the English I learn in Taiwan has many different after I talked with american. We were taught to say "Can I go to bathroom?" or "May I go to bathroom?" but when we say the first one, the instructor will say "Of Course you can, but you may not go now."
First I was confuse about why he said that, then I realize that word "Can" in English means the ability of doing certain things.
After two years in America, my English improves better than I first came. However, new problem came up-I started having problem of understanding meterial in Chinese! I spent three high school years in America. I went back home every vacation. I went out with my friends in Taiwan, they told me how their classes going on, but I know nothing about. They explained to me how it works, still no clude. Then I realize in English about what they told me. Also I need to tell someone who knows more about English then he helps me to know in Chinese.
I feel more comfortable of learning English than Chinese, but I will never forget my mother language.

First, the introduction of the article were trying to define or seprate two thing, Writing and Arts.It seens simple, picture and word. However, along with the research of the ancient culture, Asian, Maya, Pre-Cloumbian, etc, more "word" need to be define or explain. Moreover, the defination of the literacy, even illiteracy, or preliteracy need to give a meaning or boundary. Because of lack of the knowledge we create so far are not able to translate into the language human use. Also, most of the development were in "picture" or a symbol.
Second, the research of Pre-Columbian(the Author picked), found lot of the pictures of animals or words are similar with pictures. To define the meaning of literacy has to look back of human history, and find how they seen about reading. The morden common meaning of literacy is the ability to read and understand the meaning comtained. In addition, literacy could lead to the ability to write. In the article, the author gave a model of not ability to hear voice, but he can wirte a perfect melody.
Third, the writing in the discussion of these language based on the scolars of linguist, has arguments with. Writing and writing speech, first one is the gernal idea of writing, just write.But, after more expert join the development, more view of point been create.They think those signs is variety and contain meaning in. Finally, in my opinion, I think that author want to tell that the defination is hard to find and its boundary is unclear. Therefore, the literacy should not be limited. People envision information to reason about, communicate, document, and preserve the knowledge. For instance, the map we produce is to finding the location and direction of our position and where we are heading to. But it does not contain where is the exactly place of the target.

The internet and computer both increase the speed of getting information and more convenient way of gathering knowledge, sharing opinion. On the other hand, literacy in more common in community. This increases the need of knowledge and information. The computer helps the subject of literacy sprat by internet. Moreover, programs in computer guiding people to find the right information they want in the worldwide internet. For instance, typing the key word in search engine. In addition, searching the information on the internet can find the latest one or the closest time to improve the certainty of the work. The wi-fi system has been built in many countries or cities. This reduce the limited wireless internet area and increase the convenience of using internet.Reading the ancient story, such as flying and even go into space, were pushing people forward to reach the goal, make it real.

music literacy

Why we still remember the song we used to sing when we were little child? Because they are easy to remember and their melody is simple. While we getting old, more song we listen, even the song was publish before we were born. Song had been record for centuries and translate in many language to pass thought between. There also have types of song, classic, Jazz, pop, etc. A song can make a long story from thousands words to hundreds. It make sroties easier to remember without losing its own defination and background. People sing songs to release their emotion or show how they feel at specific time. Moreover, a song can present a culture's begining and how it change along with time.
Music helps people to memorise a story, because song can fully explain one's feel. Others can know the storys. Music primary contain melody and word, or only melody. The wirter of melody, he may put his own story in it, or a specific time to address this emotional work. Listen music is a different way to read, read by ear. As long as music show out, at the end, people has the clue of story it consisted. The recent time also influence the song at the same time, to present the recent people feel, and their experiences. Music is even the very first product of using literacy before reading in words.

picture literacy

We see pictures around us, newspaper,magazine, ads, or even a short moment of view of one thing. Someone may press the shutter to catch the moment. A picture can mean one thing or more, a series of picture can tell a powerful story. The charm of the picture is a second of shoot, the next second may change the story completely. Picture tells stories to people, and people find stories and catch the moment by camera. Moreover, the story defination could change by different people's view. That is how picture be a literacy and creat in human civilazation.
One picture seen by some people may take just a picture. Others may find the story behind, or even add their own story into the picture. Literacy is a product of human creativity. A catch of moment may not be copy in any forms, cause the typical moment would never appear again, even how much people trying to rebuild the specific "second".
This is how picture story unique. Like the classic book publish on centuries ago. The author is not exist anymore, and people still reading his work. Even their are any person who may be better than him, but never find the author's think on that time of writing. Picture also record the history and tell stories to people around or even next generation.

If mind can be "read" by certain test, then it's possible to read people's mind. A Psychological test can help people know more about themselves or even other's self. On the other hand, we can say Psychological test is the process that people read their or each other's mind. Between answers of questions people tend to find more about themselves or other's. Different question or situation that people themselves in will cause different consequences.

Street Painting literacy

The street painting is prohibit in some countries, but in America or some Asian countries is famous and common in some corner of street or lane we usually walk without notice. These painting may done by some people did for fun. However, some professional artist. Take it as a way of showing their idea of world or even think that art should not limited. They trying to paint picture or slogan to people to understand what happen in corner by using their color spray on the wall. From these work, some people may think as mischievous, but some may find some special thinking behind these counterculture painting.

The idea of painting on the wall, some artist said they want to make world more beautiful in some places people may never go, different street painting in variable places can also present its local culture. In America, paint in words and many decoration, Asian used to paint pictures, Europe has 3D street painting like the one has helicopter saving people on the ground. The street paint would like a living picture, because it's keep changing and adding different thing or element to combine within one wall.
