This girl in the book was not speak English well as her mom before. After her mother enforce her to speak with stranger to pratctise her English conversation. This reading reminded me that how important is the practices. As I reading the article the author improved as long as she speak out. I have been study abroad for three years already. I found the same thing as th author, improving with practicing.
I think the article is showing not only the practicing is important, but also effort and concern from people around help alot. I know nothing about English when I arrived in my first year. Because there are different way of speaking English here and Taiwan. Therefore I have to start from zero to one hundred.
